It is without doubt my most used Christian book.
Some of it is of particular usefulness to the people called ‘brethren’ and its contents it must be remembered are answers from a brethren magazine called ‘The harvester’.
However to have probably the finest NT scholar of the 20th century answering all manner of questions about Church life, biblical passages and a full range of subjects is a treat not to be missed. I have long ago learned that if I have come to a conclusion which is different to that reached by FFB then I should pause and reconsider before going public or teaching it. There are occasions when I do take a different line to FFB but not THAT many and yes I did reconsider and pause each time. Some of the questions are very sectarian and looking for FFB to confirm some ‘shibbboleth’ or other, …he never does this. He is non dogmatic on eschatology, calvinistic in a moderate sort of way and has a delighfully unsnooty way of communication. Its a great book, great for a cup of coffee and a biscuit, and for reference. If you can, just get it!!
