A Handful of Dust
She has translucent, pearly skin and beautiful hair; she is fragile and fun and utterly captivating. Up in Belgravia, her fashionable friends of the Lady Metroland smart set occasionally wonder whether it is not frightfully boring for her, stuck down at dreary old Hatton. There are even some who believe in happy marriages. Tony certainly believes in them–but then he has got into the habit of trusting his beloved Brenda…
From sleepy rural England to glamorous metroland and the jungles of Brazil, A Handful of Dust tells the story of the break-up of a marriage. Comedy, pathos and lacerating ironies combine to make it one of Evelyn Waugh’s undeniable masterpieces.”
